The most famous club in France the Moulin Rouge

If sampling the delights of the more risqué forms of entertainment in European cities is the perfect ingredient for a weekend away for you, then do not miss out on one of the infamous Paris cabarets, best showcased at the Moulin Rouge. Famed for beautiful women, costumes slimmed down from the most intimate of undergarments and an underground atmosphere in even the most well-known of venues, cabaret in Paris is unrivalled.

For pomp, gaiety and a riotous good time look no further than the Moulin Rouge show, now in its 121st year of being the hub of explosive cabaret in the city. Unfortunately the elephant so prominent in the 2001 film with Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor no longer stands, but the club still stages the greatest show on earth on a nightly basis in terms of imagination and pure electricity on stage.

If giant animals are a must for any viewing experience then the current show Féerie contains a giant aquarium of deadly snakes in which skilled, brave and hopefully very well-paid dancers frolic in the midst of these terrifying animals. As well as risking their lives, limbs are also in near-mortal danger with such displays of acrobatics and energetic athletics that Russian Olympic gymnasts would fail to keep up.

The Moulin Rouge club takes the art of burlesque to the absolute extreme whilst transporting the audience back to the Belle Époche of cabaret and loaded looks from dancers at the turn of the 20th Century. No longer the seedy hangout of lusty young artists looking for inspiration, crowds flock to see the masterful choreography of the Moulin Rouge show.

Complete with a restaurant incorporated into the seating area a night at the Moulin Rouge is certainly an opulent experience to be enjoyed with French cuisine and the finest wines and champagnes France has to offer.

Une soirée exceptionnelle in the city that doesn’t need to sleep to maintain its beauty!
